🎤 Gen X Rated — A Stand-Up Comedy Show by Brigitte Lessard
What do you get when you mix a French Canadian lesbian, a 60th birthday, a divorce, and dial-up internet? You get Gen X Rated—the hilarious new stand-up show from Brigitte Lessard.
Brigitte isn’t holding back as she dives into life as a single, queer mom, coming out in Fort McMurray back in 1983 (before being gay was cool—or even safe), the wild ride of post-divorce dating, hair regrets, and her very strong feelings about the Canadian flag.
With sharp wit, nostalgic throwbacks, and unapologetic honesty, Brigitte proves that Gen X isn’t just the forgotten middle child—we’re the reinvention generation.
If you've ever felt too old for TikTok but too young for bingo, this show is for you.
Hi, I’m Brigitte Lessard — comedian, storyteller, emcee, and unapologetically Gen X.
I’ve hosted over 400 events and shared the mic with more than 1,000 storytellers. Whether I’m emceeing, speaking, or performing stand-up, I bring bold energy, humour, and heart to every stage.
My stand-up show Gen X Rated dives into life at 60, lesbian motherhood, divorce, and dating with raw honesty and vintage Gen X sass. I also co-star in Women Wit & Wisdom, a musical comedy about middle-aged mayhem.
I'm the founder of Women Talk and sportsbras.ca, proudly bilingual, proudly LGBTQ+, and always ready to bring the laughs and the real talk.
10-year-old me knew I was destined for stand-up… I just forgot I was funny.
I found this little book I wrote as a kid while packing up after my divorce, and it stopped me in my tracks. There it was—my weird little illustrated humour, bold confidence, and a clear love for storytelling (and snacks). Somewhere between raising kids, building businesses, and trying to keep a marriage together, I forgot that funny was my first language.
As a French Canadian teen, I was already grabbing the mic as a DJ at high school events—telling jokes, spinning tunes, and secretly hoping someone brought poutine. I’ve always loved making people laugh almost as much as I love a good meal. (And if you’ve ever seen me eat, you know that’s saying a lot.)

Turns out, all it took was heartbreak, healing, and a little blast from my past to remind me who I am: a storyteller, a performer, and a woman who can find the punchline in anything—even a divorce.
I've always loved making people laugh!
I always knew I would be on stage to inspire and make people laugh. I even wrote it down in a drawing when I was just ten years old. As a teen I was a DJ in my highschool and loved being on the mic.
In 1982 my world was turned upside down when my family moved to Alberta. I did not speaking a word of English and I lost my self-confidence. It took me over 30 years to speak at the mic again. But when I did it was magical! I now have been sharing stories for more than 15 years at my own events, as a keynote speaker and an Emcee. My passion is to help women find their voice and share their stories because I understand the power of storytelling and making people smile.
Your Story Matters To Me.
